Journey to a Dark Place

When a new piece is well thought out, well scored and has something to say, musicians should grab it with both hands.  Andy Evans’s Journey to a Dark Place added richness to Saturday nights concert. Classically built it reflected dark emotions in its rhythm and harmony, there was real beauty.

Suite for Thirteen Winds

Suite for Thirteen Winds is a very entertaining piece for audience and players alike, accessible but with some challenging harmonies, and Andy Evans convincingly establishes his own distinctive style. I whole heartedly recommend the piece.

Horn Concerto

Although tonal and accessible there is a subtle and creative economy in the detail of both the scoring and structure which makes for a very satisfying work on both an intellectual and emotional plane. Watch out for it-it’s a good ‘un!
